VA Tech Wabag Bags $105.5-Mn Order from Nigerian Firm Dangote

Chennai-headquartered VA Tech Wabag Ltd (Wabag), a leading Indian MNC in the water sector, has won an order from Dangote Oil Refining Company in Nigeria for about $105.5 million.

According to the company, this is its second direct order from Dangote, the largest single train petroleum refinery in the world, after the raw water treatment plant order for Dangote fertilizers which is in an advanced stage of execution. Dangote Group is the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa.

Wabag’s scope of work includes design, engineering, procurement, supervision of installation and commissioning and testing of an effluent treatment plant with reverse osmosis, demineralisation and condensate polishing and raw water treatment package, the company said.

“Continuing on the success of ETP and effluent recycling contracts for the oil and gas industry across the globe including executing plants for marquee clients like Reliance Industries, Indian Oil Corporation, PETRONAS and a large Oil and Gas major in Saudi Arabia, the Dangote Contract exemplifies Wabag’s strong positioning in this growing segment,” it added.
