Gayatri Projects Ltd (GPL), the flagship company of the Gayatri Group, has been awarded a Rs 1,363 crore irrigation contract in Karnataka. “Gayatri Projects has secured a Rs 1,363 crore irrigation contract in joint venture with RNS Infrastructure Ltd (RNS) and Sadguru Infratech Pvt Ltd (SIPL) from Executive Engineer, Karnataka Neeravari Nigama Ltd. The project entails the execution of a lift irrigation system to provide irrigation for an area of 27,462 hectares. The contract also involves operations and maintenance of the system for 5 years after commissioning,” the company said in a BSE filing.

RNS Infrastructure Ltd and SIPL are leading infrastructure providers based in Karnataka. According to the filing, the scope of the work includes design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the lift irrigation system.

“This contract brings Gayatri back to its original core-competence of irrigation in which the company has rich and diverse experience of over five decades. It is to be executed on a lump sum turn-key basis, under the EPC mode, which does not require any investment from the company. This order is again in line with Gayatri’s asset-light model, and continues the company’s robust order inflow of the last two years, during which the order book has jumped to more than Rs 13,000 crore,” the filing said.

Incorporated in 1963, Gayatri Projects Ltd operates as a construction company in India. The Andhra Pradesh-based company undertakes various civil works, including construction of concrete or masonry dams, earthen dams, national highways, bridges, canals, aqueducts, airports, and ports, as well as irrigation, industrial, and site leveling projects.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 141.87, up 1.62% from the previous closing of Rs 138.75, on BSE at 12.15 pm today.
