
BHEL Shares Hit New 52-Week High on Winning Rs 560 Cr Order from NTPC
State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Wednesday said that it has bagged a major order worth Rs 560 crore, for supply and installation of the Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) system from NTPC for 2×490 MW National Capital Power Station (NCPS) at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.
“The Indian power sector has been an uptick in the ordering of emission control equipment due to the revised and more stringent emission norms notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in Dec’15. The notification calls for installation of equipment to control various harmful emissions, both in existing as well as new thermal power projects,” the company said in a statement.
Earlier, BHEL has successfully executed the FGD system at Tata Power’s Trombay Unit 8 in 2008 and is currently installing FGD systems at NTPC’s 3×250 MW Bongaigaon project. The company has also recently received orders for installation of FGD system at 5×800 MW Yadadri project of TSGENCO and 2×660 MW Maitree project in Bangladesh. With the ordering of Dadri, BHEL has contracted FGD orders for 13 units till date, it said.
BHEL shares jumped more than 9% intraday today and hit a new 52-week high of Rs 1,593.05 on BSE after the news came in. At 2.59 pm, the Rs 10 face value shares were trading at Rs 1,560, up 6.36% from the previous closing of Rs 1,466.65.
