
BHEL bags Rs 1600 crore order to set up a 250-mw thermal power plant in Odisha
State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd ( BHELBSE 0.88 % ) has bagged a contract to set up a 250-mw thermal power plant in Odisha.
The order has been placed by NTPC-SAIL Power Company, a joint venture between NTPCBSE 1.03 % and Steel Authority of IndiaBSE 0.38 % .
The coal-based thermal unit will be set up at Rourkela power project on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis.
BHEL had earlier executed the coal-based 2x250 mw Bhilai expansion power plant for the company.
BHEL's scope of work in the project includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the thermal power plant.
The key equipment for the contract will be manufactured at BHEL's Trichy, Haridwar, Bhopal , Ranipet, Hyderabad , Jhansi, Thirumayam and Bengaluru plants, while the company's power sector division shall be responsible for civil works and commissioning of the equipment.
