
BGR Energy Bags Water Treatment Contracts Worth Rs 650 Crore
Chennai-based engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm BGR Energy Systems Ltd has bagged two new large value contracts for water treatment. According to a company filing, the Rs 209.50-crore worth first contract is for water treatment plant package for 3×800 MW unit of APPDCL, Krishnapatnam stage 1 and 2 at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
The scope of the work includes manufacturing, shop inspection and testing, supply, packing and forwarding, erection, testing, commissioning and conducting contract performance guarantee testing of various equipment associated with pretreatment, desalination, post treatment and demineralization. The aggregate treatment capacity of these plants is more than 55 million litres per day (MLD) and these units will be completed over 23 months. The company will also carry out O&M of these units for a period of 12 months.
The second order worth Rs 440 crore covers design, build and operate (DBO) of a Tertiary Treatment Reverse Osmosis (TTRO) plant of 45 MLD capacity at Kodungaiyur, Chennai, including supply and laying DI transmission mains for conveyance of product water to various industries in Manali area, Chennai and subsequent O&M for 15 years.
“The contract value of Rs 440 crore consists of Rs 235 crore for construction of plant and transmission pipelines and Rs 205 crore for O&M for subsequent 15 years. Duration of the contract is 24 months for construction and commissioning and 6 months for trial run. The project is funded by World Bank and tender witnessed stiff qualification requirements and competition,” the filing said.
Including the current orders, BGR Energy carries over an order book of Rs 10,425 crore. Shares of the company surged more than 6% intraday Wednesday on BSE after the news came in. The Rs 10 face value shares closed trading at Rs 125.40, up 6.32% from the previous closing of Rs 117.95.
