The Prayagraj Junction of North Central Railway (NCR) is all set get revamped before the commencement of Mahakumbh in 2025.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 859 crore. The junction would not only be revamped, but the passenger amenities would be made at par with any international railway station.

Apart from Prayagraj Junction, revamp of Kanpur Central railway station is also on table. The total cost to revamp these two stations will be Rs 1,571 crore.

NCR has invited tenders for the revamp both the stations. The tender will open on 10 August 2022.

In Prayagraj Junction will have multi-storey building that would be developed at the Civil Line side of the junction and will be Divyang friendly. The new building will have a sitting capacity of 2,000 passengers at a given time.

The building will have waiting halls, dormitory as well as food courts. The concourse will be on the first floor of the remodel structure of the junction and will directly connect to the existing foot over bridge (FOB) going towards different platforms of the junction.
