NHSRCL floats tender for 21 km underground tunnel for bullet train project in Thane district

The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has invited bids for the construction of 21 km long tunnel for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

Of this, seven km of will be under the sea. The tunnel will be constructed between the underground station at Bandra-Kurla Complex and Shilphata in Thane district.

The tunnel will be built using tunnel boring machine and the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM).

The undersea tunnel at Thane Creek will be the first undersea tunnel to come up in the country.
