E-buses to run on BRTS corridor in Indore
Electric buses will soon run on the bus rapid transit system (BRTS) corridor in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The Atal Indore City Transport Services (AICTSL) will replace the existing fleet of 26 diesel-run i-buses with electric ones.
The nodal agency has planned to bring 30 battery-operated i-buses that will replace old i-buses that run on diesel. These e-buses will have a seating capacity of 32 passengers each, and cover 200-220 km distance on a single charge.
These buses will also be equipped with CCTV cameras, a public information system and GPS for real time monitoring.
AICTSL also intends to bring 50 e-city buses to replace the existing fleet of diesel-run buses being run on different routes in the city.
In all, 80 e-buses have been planned under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Mission. The tender process has been started for procurement of 80 e-buses.
