The cargo terminal at the Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Patna, Bihar is likely to be ready by December 2022.

This will pave way for speedy transportation of commercial goods through the air carrier. The facility is expected to boost the industry and provide better access to domestic markets.

Around 90 percent of the construction work has been completed on the two-storey building. The new facility will be four times bigger than the existing cargo complex.

The area of the existing cargo block is around 3,600 sq ft. The new cargo building is being built over an area of 15,000 sq ft.

The G+2 cargo terminal will be operational at the airport by March 2023. The facility will have cold room, reefer van, weighing scale, x-ray machines, door frame metal detectors, scissors lift, pallets, trolleys and high-security apparatus.

It building will be equipped with the closed-circuit television cameras for 24x7 monitoring.s
